When it comes to user-generated content in the brave new world of Web 2.0 it seems that Pareto’s Law (the good old ’80:20’ rule) has been usurped by the Wiki Law:

“50% of the information comes from 0.01% of the user base”

Some more Wikipedia stats……

  • The No #1 editor (by number of ‘edits’ made) has (had!) 159,825 edits to their name

  • Wikipedia gets 1,7bn requests/day

  • Wikipedia gets 200,000 edits/day

  • That equals 8,640 requests per edit (note! – not per ‘entry’)
